Our Objectives
Documenting and Digitalizing oral traditions;
Uplifting knowledge, its production, and methods of transmission in the Tibetan and Himalayan regions;
Fostering long-term, community-led projects, where community members take on the management of their own oral traditions and continue working towards a vibrant future.
We highlight the fluidity and multiplicity of oral traditions through their varying versions, performances, and interpretations. We demonstrate the importance of collaboration between local communities and academia in knowledge creation and its ethical implementation, with a focus on decolonization and resurgence. Additionally, we explore the meanings of authorship, ownership, and authority over traditional knowledge in non-Western contexts.
